Udaipur was a good choice of a launching pad for Rajasthan. It’s not as dirty, not as crowded, not as touty… and it’s absolutely spectacular. The Lake Palace on lake Pechola is a gem, the Maharaja’s Palace is a whole strand of gems. The Hindu and Jane temples around the city are intricate and divine. The city has so many sights, that many roof tops offer vintage points in the form of cafés and restaurants. It takes a steep climb to reach one, so even if you didn't think you were hungry going in, it will catch up to you by the time you reach the top. And since it gets chilly here at night, everyone is huddled in blankets in the dining room without walls.
