Wehrwolf Bunker outside of Vinitsa

Wehrwolf Bunker outside of Vinitsa

This was one of Hitler' Eastern Front military headquarters. It's located in a pine forest about 12 km north of Vinnytsia. The complex consisted of about 20 wooden cottages and barracks and three bunkers, surrounded by ring of barbed wire and ground defensive positions connected by underground tunnels.

There was also a tea house, a barber shop, a bathhouse, a sauna, a cinema, a casino and even an open swimming pool for the inhabitants' use.

The Nazis blew it all up on their retreat in 1944. Now there're a lot speculations of what's still there to be uncovered, but reportedly authorities are refusing to excavate it fearing unexploded mines that may still be there.
