We ended up flying into Lhasa. Our poor planning, or more precisely – cumbersome Chinese bureaucracy, landed us in the first class seats, for the second time (first time was on the flight from Moshi to Zanzibar). It’s interesting how ppl recognize you on the street, as “the couple that was in the first class”. Lhasa airport is a good hour outside the city, and even then it’s in a pretty tight spot, surrounded by mountains on all sides. It’s one of the world's highest commercial airports and to fly large heavy planes there, Air China had a special engine developed by Rolls-Royce.
