The theme of last night's dinner was - Cool As A French Cucumber!
Our stylish hostess greeting us in a stunning white dress with yellow Provance accents. Then she proceeded to pour very refreshing Cucumber Strawberry Seltzer from her very own SodaStream.
Yana put together some very photogenic and very tasty Lox Cucumber Roll (a little UWS influence ;) and no less tasty, but camera-shy (cholesterol-free) Taramasalata Cucumber Hors d'Oeuvres.
Then we had Jenny's Heirloom Buttermilk Cucumber Soup with flaky boiled potatoes on the side!
For the main course, our hostess made absolutely heavenly tender and positively flaky Sea Bass in Champagne Sauce which was accompanied by Jina's very homy dish of Quinoa and Locally-grown Roasted Summer Squash.
The dessert was on me it was my biggest challenge yet. Of course, I could've taken an easy way out and made something French, but then it wouldn't be a challenge... So, I crossed my fingers and squinted my eyes real hard - and out came a Minty-Thyme Cucumber Sorbet with Lime Shortbreads... The sorbet part came out absolutely delish. The shortbread was a little soft for my taste, but what do I know after the fourth glass of wine...
